A little about George

I began volunteering with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity almost 30 years ago through my church. My volunteer roles included rehab construction, family selection and an interfaith coalition. In 1995 I left my sales and marketing job and moved to Habitat for Humanity International's headquarters in Americus, Georgia as a volunteer. In 1997 I became a full-time employee of Habitat as an Affiliate Support Manager, assigned to Minnesota and North Dakota. I served with Habitat as an Organizational Development Consultant supporting several programs. After multiple promotions, I led the Habitat efforts in evaluation in partnership with NeighborWorks America Success Measures program. I helped write several operations manuals, was a subject matter expert in Family Selection and Support, and a frequent contributor to the Habitat Intranet site.

I enjoy working with small and midsized nonprofits, often with a focus on housing, the environment and social justice. I continue to support Habitat affiliates and have a passion for affordable housing. I am a frequent trainer and acclaimed workshop presenter. I am seen at conferences locally, regionally, and nationally. In 2015, I moved from Wisconsin to Sisters, Oregon, and am enjoying an active lifestyle and exploring the Pacific Northwest.

In 2016, I was honored to join the board of directors for Bethlehem Inn, the largest homeless shelter in Bend. In 2017 I helped establish a cold-weather shelter in Sisters. This has been one of most important community building experiences I have ever been involved in.
